Fall Flower Arrangement Ideas
#1 Incorporate Fall Colors
Oranges, reds, and yellows, oh my! Nothing says fall like a warm, rustic color palette. Choosing a combination of flowers that have a fall is the easiest way to evoke a cozy fall vibe. Roses, chrysanthemums, and sunflowers come in a huge range of colors that are perfect for achieving a gorgeous fall palette.
#2 Mix dried and fresh flowers
Fall is about celebrating the bounty of the season. Dried flowers add a nice touch to fresh flowers and create extra visual interest via texture. Other non-floral elements like Amaranth, sisal grass, and wheat stocks also add a nice touch to bouquets. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different combinations of fresh and dried flowers to achieve a unique result.
#3 Alternate height like a pro
One of the most important elements of flower arranging is to use stems of different heights to create a full and balanced bouquet. Combine a tall flower or sisal grass with medium and shorter length flowers to draw the eye from top to bottom and to create a dramatic, sculptural type of display.
#4 Get creative with found objects
Sticks, pine cones, and acorns can all add quirky and naturalistic touches to your bouquets. Part of learning to embrace the season is syncing up with nature in its current state. Plus, it's really fun to go out and gather little bits and bobs- including twigs and dried leaves- to incorporate into your fall flower bouquet.
#5 Play with holiday accessories
Fall is the beginning of lots of fun holidays- Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc. Depending on your favorite, we encourage creating uniquely themed bouquets centered around your favorite holiday. Could you imagine a halloween-themed bouquet with black and purple flowers and little spiders hidden in between? There’s no limit on your creativity with this one, just have fun with it!
#6 Pomegranate and pumpkin accents
What doesn’t scream fall more than pumpkins and pomegranates? Incorporating these iconic fall symbols into your DIY flower arrangement is easier than you think. Local markets, including trader Joes, who carries pumpkin stems which are tiny pumpkins on branches that you can weave throughout your bouquet. Combine these with Contrasting red, or a fall color palette, and you’ve got yourself a spirited flower arrangement.
#7 Turn a pumpkin into a vase
Would you believe me if I told you a pumpkin could become more than a pie, or carriage? You can make an absolutely striking fall centerpiece simply by hollowing out a medium to large pumpkin and placing a vase inside with your flower bouquet. And no need to stick with an orange pumpkin- these days you can easily find all sorts of colored pumpkins, including white or grey ones, for an even chicer look.
